This painting displays the importance of the arts and entertainment industry during the pandemic. With everyone being trapped indoors the majority of the population have turned to the arts industry to keep entertained, either watching films, listening to music, becoming creative with drawing, sewing and general creating. In these desperate times I wanted to highlight the importance of the arts industry for keeping everyone’s hopes and spirits up, and what better represents the entertainment industry than clowns? However, the arts sector is an area that suffers from many cuts and is wrongfully looked down upon yet everyone has turned to the arts during the crisis. The sinister objects and expressions displayed in this painting convey how although everyone has turned to creative persons during this time it is in fact an area which does not get true respected recognition in general life. This highlights the question, will the arts industry be looked upon differently once the crisis is over?
